Fabien Fryns has been active in the contemporary art world since 1986, primarily as a collector and advisor to both newly initiated clients and established collectors. Originally from Belgium, he has been actively involved in the art world from collecting art works as a teenager, to owning Galleries in Beijing, Los Angeles, and Marbella, to advising collectors and institutions through his aforementioned company, Fabien Fryns Fine Art. In the early days, Fabien collected and placed works by Miquel Barcelo, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louise Bourgeois, Robert Combas, George Condo, Adam Fuss, Nan Goldin, Anthony Gormley, Peter Halley, Keith Haring, Henry Hudson, Richard Hudson, Anish Kapoor, David LaChapelle, Robert Mapplethorpe, Shirin Neshat, Julian Schnabel, and Andy Warhol, among others.
Since discovering Chinese contemporary art in 2000 and moving to Beijing in 2004, Fabien has developed close relationships with many of the established and emerging artists working in China, ranging from Ai Weiwei to Zeng Fanzhi. Fabien Fryns Fine Art’s mission persists to contribute to the cross-cultural exchange between China and the West, and to raise the awareness of Chinese contemporary art in the international market.
Currently Fabien Fryns Fine Art is located at Unit 17 in Alserkal Avenue, Dubai. The premiere exhibition has been titled Facial Recognition and was curated by Barbara Pollack. The exhibition brings together a diverse range of artists, namely, Francis Annan Affotey, Angeles Agrela, Alic Brock, Yukimasa Ida, Victoria Nunley, Julian Pace, Walter Robinson, and Adam Parker Smith. Future programming to primarily focus on Western and Asian contemporary art.
